Maria A. Citino has practiced exclusively in the area of family law throughout her entire career. Her practice includes divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities/child custody, paternity, visitation, child support, maintenance, division of assets and enforcement proceedings. Ms. Citino also handles complex financial issues, such as valuation of closely held businesses, valuation and classification of retained earnings, valuation of real estate, division of defined benefit retirement assets and international property disputes in connection with divorce. Maria is a skilled appellate advocate, having authored numerous appeals on family law issues including maintenance, inter-state support, enforcement of judgments, post-divorce allocation of pension benefits of public employees and jurisdictional disputes in the context of domestic relations litigation.

Ms. Citino has significant experience and training in the area of domestic violence and has litigated numerous cases involving orders of protection. Maria has completed the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network 40-hour Domestic Violence Training and has presented city-wide workshops and seminars on domestic violence and other family law related topics. In addition, Maria has lectured for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Family Law Series.

In 2009, Maria was awarded a Greenberg Traurig, LLP Equal Justice Works Fellowship. As an Equal Justice Works Fellow, Ms. Citino spent two years at the Legal Assistance Foundation, where she represented low-income victims of domestic violence in complex domestic relations matters. Ms. Citino is fluent in Spanish and in 2011, was featured in the Huffington Post for her work as an Equal Justice Works Fellow in the Spanish-speaking community.

Maria works closely with her clients to develop and carry-out a strategy tailored to the unique circumstances of each case. Her genuine and honest approach helps clients through the emotional stress inherent in family law matters.
